Introduction
The literature is immortal.
We learn English and English literature to get to know more about English people, their culture, traditions and values. And to enlarge our background and moral values and principles we read books of not only the English or Russian greatest writers but American writers as well. Any language plays a great role in the life of society and the problems existing in the languages still preserve attention of different psychologists, ethno graphs, linguists and grammarians. Society’s need in communication and science, the development of linguistics and that change that occurred in men’s life have led to the progress in the usage of language, in particular the English language. As a result, it became an international language and still permeates the society. The knowledge of a foreign language, the English language in particular, depends on how it is presented to learners. They can face different problems related to the use of stylistic devices in their language. The research of dictionary and contextual logical meanings has been always topical because the usages of them today are on the same levels as many years ago. Knowledge and usage of them make our language and speech more intelligent, richer and more colorful. We can see that stylistic devices are used in all spheres of human activities, in politics, in science and literature. The theme of my diploma paper is “peculiarities of the lexical stylistic devices (Metaphor, Metonymy, simile, irony, and epithet) in the novel “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen”. I have chosen this very theme to investigate the interaction of dictionary and contextual logical meanings of some stylistic devices and the usage of peculiarities of stylistic device taking into account the fact that this is an interesting theme, first of all. Exploring stylistic devices we have come across various ways of expressing certain ideas, feelings, and emotions. The topicality of the theme is based on the growing interest on the study of the concept of stylistic devices of the English language. The novelty of the research is that the analyses of stylistic devices have been made on analyses of the novel “Pride and Prejudice”. It is necessary to tell, that the main aim of our work is analysis of lexical stylistic devices that are used in Jane Austen’s novel “Pride and Prejudice” as one of the peculiarities of the author’s style of writing. The object of our research is the field of Stylistic devices in Jane Austen’s novels as a main feature of her style.
