Lack of Civic Sense
As you look around, you are surrounded by the latest technology and everything seems to be more modern and mature. Citizens of India are not mature enough when it comes to civic sense. This is the only thought that is lacking in the attitude of people. They are so focused towards their own goals that civic sense has become a matter of low priority to them. What is civic sense? It is nothing but social ethics. A lot of people assume that civic sense is just about keeping the roads, streets and public property clean. But it is lot more than that; it has to do with abiding to the laws, respect for fellow citizens and maintaining decorum in public places. A lot of foreign countries functions in a smooth manner because of the strong civic sense amongst its citizens. Vandalism and road rage are the few of the many examples of lack of civic sense. Riots take place as people do not respect each other’s religions and culture. As you visit different cities of India, you will find one thing in common, roadsides or public places littered with garbage and people spitting in different places. This makes us think that India has been turned into a garbage dump. This is all because of lack of civic sense among us. This can only be removed if the government enforces stronger laws and regulations. The police force and the government workers also should be loyal to their work instead of being corrupted. I believe that this lack of civic sense can also be removed if we Indians understand its importance and apply the same to our daily lives. So here, I sign off with the hope that someday this fault in our fellow citizens can improve and India can become a better country.
