Question: Does democracy produce worse government than dictatorship produces?

For the sake of ruling a country, we demand a system which can provide justice and also protect the basic rights of people. Basically, there are two systems in the contemporary world, democratic system and dictatorship. When people determining which form of government is better, it always comes to a fierce debate. For instance, America, United Kingdom, India are the countries which have a democratic form of government. On the other hand, countries like China, Egypt, and Cuba etc are following the dictatorship form of government. Thus and so, which one is better among these two types of government? Now, let’s have an in depth analysis of democracy versus dictatorship. Definitions of Democracy and Dictatorship

The U.S. president, Abraham Lincoln defined democracy as the government of the people, for the people and by the people. In such a government, people are their own rulers. A democratic government is formed via election. All adult citizens are eligible to vote and choose for their representatives. Therefore, democracy is a people's government or a majority ruled government. According to Levine (1993), there are three types of democracy: Firstly, participatory democracy (direct) means a government emphasizes popular participation, majority rule and political equality, for example, the referendum and the initiative. Secondly, representative democracy (indirect) means a representative government is formed based on constitutionalism and free elections, such as the US Congress. Thirdly, economic democracy specifies a system of government that distributes the material resources of society in order to maximize equality and improve people’s quality of life, social democrats and communists are two important groups which support economy democracy.
